Bogota, the capital of Colombia, with a population of around 8 million people is located at an altitude of 2,640 meters above sea level, making it one of the highest capital cities in the world!

Bogotá is truly a megalopolis, with a population of approximately 10 million people, centered in an area of nearly 1600 kilometers. Its past has been projected in its actual cultural patrimony, its physical structure and in the outstanding places which bring to the mind of citizens and visitors the deeds that have marked its history and its life and the time which has elapsed since its foundation.

Bogota is a modern city today, where sectors and buildings with historical and patrimonial value are preserved, even though the architectural importance of the republican center has not been properly valued, nor the residences and mansions which have been torn down in La Magdalena. La Merced is the exception to the above. In our times, wide avenues and boulevards cross the city from south to north and from east to west with spacious sidewalks for pedestrians and bicycle riders.
