The Julio Mario Santodomingo Theatre is a theatrical complex located in Bogotá, Colombia, conformed by the Teatro Mayor and Teatro Estudio, administered thanks to an alliance between the private sector and the district administration, through the Ministry of Culture, Recreation And Sport and the District Institute of Arts.
With its acoustic and technical conditions, the theaters are fully within the cultural policies of the city and are resolutely oriented to make possible the exercise of the cultural rights of citizens and to foster a plural and generous dialogue of the different cultures of the world. In this way, a cultural exchange is permitted in which culture of the world is brought in, just as the Colombian artistic expressions are shown to the world.
In its first four years of operation, more than 500,000 people from all walks of life have come to see different manifestations of the performing and musical arts of the world in the functions that have been performed in their two rooms. These spectators have participated in the unique encounter with national and international artists, in an act of communion that enriches life, fights pessimism and makes better human beings.
