Colombia has its very own set of Caribbean islands, perfect for a weekend escape or a week of relaxation.
Bathed by the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, Colombia offers beautiful beaches which are easily reached and count with the necessary infrastructure.
Beaches in Colombia
When you visit the beaches of Capurganá and Sapzurro in the Department of Chocó, you will be enchanted by the natural scenery of the area. Fishes of many colors and aquatic birds can be seen in and above the crystalline waters.
The islands of San Andrés, Providencia and San Catalina are the incarnation of paradise. Many consider their landscape the most beautiful and inviting of Colombia. Their peaceful waters of various shades of blue and green, the white sand of the beaches and the friendliness of the inhabitants make this archipelago the ideal vacation site.
In the city of Santa Marta, also known as “the prettiest bay of America”, you will find beaches to relax with family and friends. Besides the wide offerings of hotels and restaurants, there are many tourist attractions as well as countless natural sites.
Sunshine Places of Colombia
Not far from the cities, there are places where all you’ll need to wear is your bathing suit. The swimming pools in Girardot and Melgar near Bogotá, and Lake Calima near Cali, are only a couple of them.
Rivers in the departments of Meta and Guainía give way to long stretches of beach during the summer. Take advantage of the opportunity and enjoy the sun!
Areas with great weather and tourist resorts abound. Among these are Anapoima and Villeta in Cundinamarca, and Sopetrán in Antioquia.
