Bogota being located at such high altitude, is considered with other capitals of the Andean Region – Quito (Ecuador), La Paz (Bolivia) and Mexico City (Central America) – among than capitals cities with highest altitude in the globe. In addition with its geographic position with respect to the equatorial line, determines a cool climate all year round, which can be compared to the autumn season of the countries in the temperate zones.
The temperature varies between o and 24 degrees centigrade in extreme cases. Since it has no definite meteorological seasons, it is said that it is winter in rainy periods- March, April, May, October, November and December – and summer in sunny days – January, February, June, July, August and September.
