The Gold Museum boasts an extraordinary collection, the most comprehensive of its kind worldwide, which includes approximately 35,000 pieces of jewelry belonging to Calima, Quimbaya, Tayrona, Muisca and San Agustín (St. Augustine) civilizations, made out of gold and tumbaga (the Spanish name for the low quality alloy of gold and copper), The beliefs, skills, culture and view of the cosmos of the indigenous tribes are reflected in pieces made of pottery, shell, stone, bone, among other materials.
