Tourists flock to Caliwood Museo de la Cinematografia, a museum that lays the claim for being the first in Cali to document cinematography
Caliwood, the first Museum of Cinematography in the history of Colombia, was founded on October 22, 2008 and is located at Avenida Belalcázar (Cra 2nd.) No. 5A-55 West of the Arboleda Urbanization, in Santiago de Cali. The new cultural entity was conceived to show to the national and foreign visitors the main artifacts, elements, optical games, machinery, accessories, film and film projection equipment and all the objects that were protagonists in the development of the cinematographic culture and its Immediate ascension of the photograph.
Caliwood emphasizes the optical devices that made it possible for people to witness the miracle of cinema and all the expressions contained in the so-called Seventh Art and in extension of the subject, by the transcendental, the cameras by means of which scientific Images in glass and paper. In the Museum, the directors, producers, actors and actresses of Colombian nationality and foreigners are honored simultaneously, highlighting, as far as possible, the enormous meaning that the beautiful and agonizing theaters of yesteryear had with their programs Permanent “matinee, social, evening and night”, an initiative that entertained thousands of citizens in capitals and in each of the remote rural populations of Colombia, emphasizing that in the golden age existed in the country, Not less than 1,000 theaters in which feature films were presented to the general public, which meant that at any given time the venues housed no less than 2,000 film projectors of all hierarchies, brands and origins.
