History of the Forest of the Mist (Bosque de la Niebla)
Few people know the environmental value of this cloud forest, which, in addition to filtering waters for the Cali River basin and contributing to the reduction of the carbon footprint for the city, has a centuries-old history. It all began in 1910 when the Museum of Natural History in New York commissioned the famous ornithologist Frank M. Chapman to study and classify the numerous specimens of Colombian birds. For several months the fog forest was explored by the most renowned ornithologists of the time, and the findings of this expedition today rest both in the Museum and at Cornell University, New York, United States.
