A visit to the Naval Museum of the Caribbean in Cartagena will give you some great insight into those fortifications and their role in defending the city from numerous pirate attacks.

Caribbean Naval Museum you’ll find stories, images and ancient objects related to the history of the Caribbean. Tales featuring ferocious Indians with poisoned arrows, forts, shipwrecks and battles in Cartagena , the main port of the Spanish Empire in the New World, take center stage alongside the tragic struggle for independence waged by the city . The building that houses the museum was built over 400 years ago and here you can also get to know excerpts from the life of Jose Prudencio Padilla, the history of Colombia’s participation in the Korean War and models of old boats.
