As every other plaza in Cartagena, EL Parque Simon Bolivar has adopted different names among others: Plaza de la Catedral, PLaza de la Inquisición and finally Plaza Simon Bolivar.

Trees that are hundreds of years old, water fountains, streetlamps and a cool and quiet atmosphere are part of the charm of the Plaza de Bolivar (Bolivar Square). It is the favorite meeting point in Cartagena. In part because of its proximity to attractions including the Museo del Oro (Gold Museum), Palacio de la Inquisición (Palace of the Inquisition or Historical Museum) and city center restaurants. In the middle of the square you can see the statue of El Libertador Simón Bolívar (The Liberator Simon Bolivar) the monument it gets its name from.
