Tunja is one of the oldest cities in Colombia, Tunja was formerly the seat of the Chibcha Indian Kings. It was founded in 1539 by Captain Gonzalo Spanish Infantry Suarez Rendon Carlos V. In 1818, Simon Bolivar defeated Spanish Royalists near Tunja. Some of the industries here include mining and agriculture. Tunja was also the center for many events and characters in the Columbia history. It has a population of around 120,000 inhabitants.
