Bogota – Briceno (Jaime Duque Park) Tausa – Ubate – Fuquene – Turismo en Colombia – Bogotá Colombia
Jaime Duque Park: In a small Colombian town 30 minutes outside of Bogotá lies a giant, full-scale replica of the Taj Mahal, finished with four towering spires and a white bulb at the top. Virtually unknown to all tourists, this replica is part of Jaime Duque Park, a locally renowned agglomeration of history and culture of epic proportions.
You travel on the North Throughway until you reach Briceno (35 km), you turn left where you can immediately see the entrance to the Jaime Duque Park. Continuing on this road and just before arriving at Zipaquira, you turn right and travel 24 km across beautiful savannah landscapes until you reach Tausa (1570 m.a.s.l., 13°C), where it is important to see the Green lagoon in its environment, as well as the Subachoque hillocks, the protective hills of the urban capital and other natural sites where you can exercise ecological tourism. A few kilometers ahead, you find Ubate, known as the milk capital of Colombia, where delicious cheeses are made and appetizing derivatives are produced. It is important to visit the Minor Basilica, of French Gothic style, the hills of the Chambers (Aposentos), the San Luis convent, the blouse of Culture and the Guacal ecological park.
Just a few kilometers ahead, you can begin to see the Fuquene lagoon, an enormous mass of water which, due to its bad management, today it is almost dry; however, the inhabitants can enjoy some islands, among which the Encanto is outstanding. The town of Fuquene (1550 m.s.n.m, 14°C) is pleasant and its architecture and several of its temples are outstanding. The return trip in a private vehicle can take between 60 and 90 minutes.
