Sanandresan music is the result of great cultural mixes. On the island there are rhythms from all over the world, drawn in greater numbers from African, Afro-Antillean and Anglo-Antillean traditions. This hybrid makes the island reproduce harmonies that go through genres such as calypso, socca, reggae, polka, mentó and schottist.
San Andres Colombia, your cultural traditions of the native Raizal population of the islands are the product of the mixture and idiosyncrasy of African slaves and European settlers, primarily English, who inhabited them during the 17th to 19th centuries. Their language (Creole or Creole English), their music (chotis, mazurka, polka, waltz, corridor, reggae, cuadrille and calypso), their religious affiliation (Baptists, Adventists, Catholics or of the Christian Mission) and their social customs, makes them a unique cultural group in Colombia.

There are also typical instruments such as the washtube (very similar to a double bass) and the jawbone (a horse jaw used for percussion).
In September the Green Moon Festival takes place, a cultural, musical, gastronomic and crafts event where Caribbean music concerts are the protagonists.
In gastronomic matters, the traditional dish is rundown or rondón, a mixture of green plantain, salted pork, snail, fish, yam, yucca and flour.
