With an area close to 247.56 hectares (2.48 square kilometers), Old Point Regional Mangrove Park stands as one of the most important biological reserves in the department of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina, having diverse biological communities mangrove forests and macroalgae, salt water lagoons and an important area of tropical dry forest.
