Villeta is a municipality and town from Cundinamarca (Colombia), located in Gualivá Province, located 91 km away from Bogota, considered the capital of the province. Its name means “Little Village”.

The town was founded on September 29,1551 by Don Alonso de olalla and Don Hernando de Alcocer, and given the name Villeta de San Miguel. It is recognized as a land of panela (sugar cane), and as such one of its illustrious festivities is the Reinado Nacional de la Panela (National Pageant of the Panela). The range of tourist attractions on offer to visitors includes waterfalls in the area known as the ‘Alto de los Micos'(Monkey Heights) and the Bocatoma, a place where you can connect with nature and enjoy the famous ‘paseos de olla’ (picnics), and the Alto de la Cruz (Height of the Cross), where each year the passion and death of Jesus Christ is commemorated.
