The Sun Clock was inaugurated on October 1, 1984. Since then it has remained at the entrance of the Zona Franca. Before it was surrounded by ample green areas and floral plants that gave the space a nice touch to where the tourist arrived. Last year was recovered after remaining in a state of neglect.
The clock numbers, which were originally made of bronze, were sent to a workshop near the central cemetery. The calculation and design were in charge of Eduardo Serrano Acevedo as well as the direction of the work. The economic contributions were made by the Logia Sol de Santander 2-14 and by Peter Zahn.
