The San Luis Gonzaga Church or San Luis Church is a religious temple dedicated to the cult of Catholicism, located in the city of Cúcuta, Colombia. It is one of the first churches raised in the city after the earthquake of 1875. It was founded by the parish priest Demetrio Mendoza in 1897.
It is part of the parish of San Luis, the oldest in the municipality, and was initially dedicated to the evangelization of the Indians of the Cúcuta valley. Inside its cloister is a picture of the Virgin of Chiquinquirá that dates from the year 1587. The image was donated by the conqueror Rodrigo de la Parada to strengthen the friendship with the town of Indians. The picture of the virgin survived a violent flood and the destruction of the old temple in 1875. For these reasons, the church cultivates a fervent devotion to the Virgin of Chiquinquira, designated as patron saint in the year of the reconstruction of the temple in 1897.
