The Buenaventura Tourist Dock (Muelle Turístico Flotante de Buenaventura) is the only floating dock in the Colombian Pacific; it is used as a sea terminal for transporting passengers between Buenaventura and the beaches of the Pacific Coast, such as La Bocana, Piangüita, Juanchaco, Ladrilleros, and Málaga, which are very attractive ecological sites. At the La Manigua Botanical Gardens, one hour by boat, the visitor can see humpbacked whales between June and November as well as appreciate the region’s rich biodiversity.
The Tourist Pier in Buenaventura is the first and only floating tourist pier in the Colombian Pacific, authorized by the Port Captaincy.
This work, carried out by the Department of Valle del Cauca in 1998, has the best logistics as a maritime terminal, with a significant flow of passengers using the maritime transport between Buenaventura and the beaches of the Pacific Ocean coast, such as La Bocana, Piangüita , Juanchaco, Ladrilleros, La Barra and other tourist destinations.
It is the main point of embarkation and disembarkation of passengers in the port of Buenaventura. The gangway has an extension of 240 meters long and 5 meters wide, its side railings are aluminum and the ramp is equalizable. It has six docks for smaller boats and one for boats. Its infrastructure allows to respond adequately to high seasons, such as whale seasons, Easter and holidays from December to January. In the vicinity of the Tourist Pier the Port Captaincy and the Red Cross operate.
The Buenaventura tourist pier is the starting point for traveling between this municipality and the Pacific beaches of La Bocana, Piangüita, Juanchaco, Ladrilleros and La Barra.
