The church of San Nicolás de Tolentino in Barranquilla is a church of Catholic worship under the patronage of St. Nicholas of Tolentino, patron of the city. It is a neogothic style building whose construction dates back to the second decade of the seventeenth century, which took about 300 years, when at the end of the 19th century it received the definitive impulse for its culmination by Monsignor Carlos Valiente, the presbyter Pedro María Revollo and the Ladies who collected funds among the parishioners.
St. Nicholas’ Church is located in the Historic Center of Barranquilla, presiding over the Plaza de San Nicolás, on the eastern side of the promenade of Bolivar. It was pro-cathedral church of Barranquilla from 1932, when the Holy See created the diocese of Barranquilla, until 1982, when the parish Maria Reina was elevated to the category of Cathedral. In 2005, the church of San Nicolás de Tolentino was declared of Cultural Interest of National Character by the Ministry of Culture of Colombia.
