Olaya Herrera Public Square is the largest of Pereira and is Municipal Heritage, was born in the decade of the 30’s of the XX century. At that time was of great importance because next to him was the station of the train and forced site to visit of travelers who were or arrived at Pereira. The numerous strangers who progressively gave a diversity of faces to Pereira.
The design of the area was the idea of Carlos Drews in 1932. The park was endowed with two bronze sculptures, gift of Alfonso Jaramillo Gutierrez. In 1935 the first lanterns were purchased, in 1937 Mr. Marcelino Ossa made his paving.
Currently Olaya Herrara park has green areas and high mango trees that give shade to calmly enjoy the urban landscape and at the same time ecological, there is located the Governorate of Risaralda, also known as The Gray Palace, the old train station and two Megabus stations.
