The traditional candies of the city, with their mixture of exotic ingredients, area all available in the Portal de los Dulces (Portal Of The Candies), a place where you can find panelita (milk candy with pieces of coconut), cubanitos (caramel spread in conical wafers), suspiros (meringues), melcochas (marshmallows), cocadas (coconut sweets) ande other sugary delights, made from recipes that have been handed down from generation. Sweets are also an important source of employment for moms in the region.
