Astronomic Observatory is Located at Calle 8 and Carrera 8. This is considered the oldest observatory in Latin America: built between 1802 and 1803. It constitutes one of Colombia‘s historical relics. Its construction was directed by the wise man Mutis, head of the Botanical Expedition, who drew up an inventory of the Neo-Granada flora and whose original drawings and plates are kept in the Botanical Garden of Madrid. This creator formed a series of men of science who later participated in the independence of America. The Observatory is the center of many scientific studies and holds the offices of the geographic society and the Colombian Academy of Physical and Natural Exact Sciences.
